Offaly turned on the style as they put in a convincing display to easily get the better of Carlow in Birr after a powerful second-half performance.
Colm Daly was the star man and the St Rynagh's man fired three goals, while Donal Mahon and James Kilmartin also found the net.
Carlow played with the strong wind in the first half but trailed 2-8 to 2-7 at half-time and, into the wind, it always looked like too tall an order for Carlow to overcome.
Carlow got off to a perfect start as they scored a goal and point in the first 90 seconds, the goal coming from Jason Shinners, but Daly replied quickly with an Offaly goal to prevent Carlow building up a head of steam.
Kilmartin then raised the green flag to put Offaly in front after 12 minutes but Conor Foley's strike kept Carlow in touch up to half-time.
Three Offaly goals in the first seven minutes of the second half ended the game as a contest as Daly finished off his hat-trick and that set the tone for a dominant second-half display from the Faithful.
