Cunniffe calls shots for Leitrim

Leitrim 2-18 Longford 3-11

CLEMENT CUNNIFFE pointed the way for Leitrim as they advanced to the next round with a comfortable four-point victory at Pearse Park yesterday.

Longford bagged two goals through John Newman and Luke Kelly midway through the first half, but they failed to build on that. Leitrim upped their game in the second half and four unanswered points put them in the driving seat.

Despite having corner-back Stephen Connolly sent off after a second yellow card, Longford battled back into the match, but Cunniffe's penalty and points from Mark O'Donoghue and Keith Boyle sealed it for Leitrim.
