Raharney regained the title in dramatic fashion when they dethroned Clonkill in a pulsating clash at Cusack Park, Mullingar, yesterday.
The impressive Alan Dowdall edged the holders ahead to leave Clonkill 0-9 to 0-8 in front at half-time.
Raharney trailed by six points with seven minutes of normal time remaining, but the switching of dual Westmeath player Paul Greville from wing-back to full-forward proved to be an inspired move and he rifled home a wonderful goal in the 57th minute to leave his side a point behind.
A great point from Brendan Murtagh seemed to be the insurance score for Clonkill. However, Brian Connaughton rifled a 25-metre free to the net in injury-time to steal it.
