Clinical Clynch sets up Meath stroll
Meath maintained their 100pc record by outpointing Mayo in Trim, where the game was all but over at half-time, when they led by 16 points.
The match got off to a bizarre start with Mayo's Gary Nolan picking up a yellow card for a wild swing at the throw-in. Steven Clynch pointed the resultant free and Meath were in control from then to the end.
With Clynch and Barry Slevin impressing in attack, they built up a 1-14 to 0-1 lead with the breeze behind them – Adam Gannon scored their goal after 24 minutes.
It took Mayo half an hour to get going, with Kenny Feeney slotting over a close-range free. Clynch shot eight points in the first half.
Though Feeney later added seven points, Meath were in command, with James Toher impressing at centre-back and eight of their players getting on the scoresheet.
