Cork IT edged out an experimental Kerry side in nearly unplayable conditions at a rain and wind lashed Austin Stack Park on Saturday.
Ryan Clifford's 24th-minute goal proved pivotal for CIT.
The sides were level at the break, 1-2 to 0-5, but despite a string of second-half wides, CIT held Kerry to just a single score to advance to the quarter-finals.
