Carvill sparks Orchard spree

Armagh 3-11
Derry 1-12

Armagh produced a sensational second-half performance to claim their first win of the campaign, with Middletown pair Cahal Carvill and Conor McCann scoring crucial goals.

Derry kept battling and pummelled the Armagh goal in the last five minutes at Celtic Park, but the visitors held firm.

Fiachra Bradley got the game's first goal, rifling the ball home from close range in the 19th minute. With keeper Joby Burke in inspired form, the Orchard men went in two ahead at the break.

The hosts scored four points at the beginning of the second half but a flicked goal by Carvill spurred Armagh to life and they rattled off six points.

Derry fought valiantly at the death and were rewarded when sub Feilim Kelly thumped the ball home, but dogged Armagh defending kept them at bay.
