Leinster league champions St Kieran's College weren't overly stretched as they eased into the semi-finals.
The double chasers opened against the wind in Freshford, but that didn't hurt them. At the break, Castlecomer CS were 0-3 to 0-2 down and looked to be in trouble. Robbie Donnelly shot two points from frees for the winners.
Kieran's cut loose when backed by the wind in the second half.
They were four points clear by the 40th minute thanks to scores from Donnelly (free) and Niall Walsh, who lashed a close-range shot just over the bar when a goal seemed a likely outcome.
The lead was upped to five points after substitute Conor Murphy converted a free with his first touch. Castlecomer did erase that point with a reply from Billy Morrissey, but that was their only score of the half.
Kieran's simply powered on and pushed further ahead through Sean Morrissey, Walsh and Murphy (free) and a Liam Blanchfield goal in the 54th minute finished off brave Castlecomer.
