Bennett just the trick
Waterford 4-17, Limerick 3-15
Waterford held off a strong challenge from Limerick at Walsh Park before turning on the style in extra-time to book their place in the final.
The Deise men began this game in whirlwind fashion with goals inside the first four minutes from Darragh Flynn and 16-year-old Stephen Bennett, who grabbed another in the ninth minute.
A spectacular goal from Mark Carmody helped Limerick reduce the deficit in the second half and Kevin O'Brien's second goal of the game gave them a three-point lead with five minutes to play.
However, Waterford for whom Bennett completed his hat-trick in the 48th minute, refused to give in and three points in the closing stages forced extra-time, where there was really only one team in it.
