Winning Gold Cup Cheltenham jockey Davy Russell dedicates celebration to dead pal
GOLD Cup winning jockey Davy Russell has dedicated his celebrations to a friend he lost when he was a child.
The jockey (35) won the Gold Cup on Lord Windermere and he waved his hands as "a little hello to a friend I lost when I was a young lad" he told The Star.
"People were asking me about my celebration after the race.
"It's from a cowboy-type movie called 8 Seconds about a young lad who becomes a bull riding champion.
"In the movie he does that wave as a little hello to a friend he has lost and that's my little hello to a friend I lost when I was a young lad."
He added that his nerves will still shattered after the post-race steward's inquiry but he never doubted they would triumph.
