Watching Brief

HAVING been sold for €200,000 after running out a slightly fortuitous winner of its sole point-to-point at Horse and Jockey in March 2011, Home Farm looked an expensive purchase when struggling in two starts over flights last December.

At Thurles on Thursday, the son of Presenting once again benefitted from the fall of another when the challenging Legal Exit departed two-out, but he, nonetheless, began to justify his price tag.

Having made all under Davy Russell, Arthur Moore's five-year-old still looked in command when Legal Exit crashed and duly stretched 17 lengths clear at the line.

While Home Farm might not have had to beat much, his trainer knows how to handle a good horse when he happens upon one and this fellow looks the part. He is due to go straight over fences now.
