Watching brief

OUR MONTY would warrant close monitoring if turning out in the conditions hurdle at Fairyhouse on Wednesday.

On switching to Willie Mullins' care in the autumn of 2009, the nine-year-old -- a son of Tony Martin's Swinton Hurdle and Cambridgeshire winner She's Our Mare -- twice cantered up over hurdles before then doing likewise in the Cork Grand National.

He has since been sidelined, but certainly looked to have plenty more to give before his lay-off.

While Wednesday's race, which could also feature the return of Mouse Morris' China Rock, may prove difficult to win, Our Monty could have a big say off a light weight in something like the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park later in the month if he shows up well.
