While he also has an entry in the Paddy Power Chase the same day, Prince De Beauchene could be the value each-way option at 20/1 for the Welsh National on December 27. A respectable fifth on his debut for Willie Mullins in the Troytown, he currently has just 10st 9lb in the Chepstow showpiece compared with being a pound off top-weight at Leopardstown, and the extended trip in testing ground would be right up his street.

It is a race that Mullins has yet to win, but the champion trainer loves breaking new ground and Prince De Beauchene's British owner Graham Wylie would surely be glad to see the horse travel over.
