Watching brief

Rite Of Passage is set to step out of novice company at Punchestown on Wednesday. Dermot Weld is anxious to find out if his Leopardstown winner stays, so the six-year-old tackles two and a half miles in the opening race on the card.

Having won a November Handicap over two miles on the Flat, the classy Giant's Causeway gelding is expected to make light of the extra half-mile over hurdles.
