Upping the ante
The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, which is run on October 1, has been a kind race to four-year-old fillies in years not long gone, with the race to take place at Chantilly again this year.
Two of the last three winners (Treve and Found) were in the age and sex category Minding is in and it was difficult not to be wowed by her return to the fray at Naas last Monday.
Evidently, her love of racing has not deserted her. True, it was hardly a stern test of her talents to beat three lesser rivals. Moreover, she had it all to herself up front.
She briefly appeared coming into the straight that she may come back to the field. In a matter of moments, she burst clear under Ryan Moore.
Minding had one crack at the boys last year, a somewhat unlucky-in-running third in what seemed a cracking Champion Stakes. The Arc looks a logical step this year and the 10/1 about quite possibly the best Aidan O'Brien has trained is worth an investment. Her stable ally Found, retired, is no threat.
