Sagas set for Kelso hat-trick

Premier Sagas can run a big race in the Monteith Memorial Champion Chase at Kelso this afternoon.

Nicky Richards has a couple in this extended two-mile-six-furlong event, including the smart Skippers Brig, but preference is for the David Wesley Yates-owned seven-year-old, which sports the same colours as Monet's Garden.

The selection progressed nicely as a novice last season, and was thought good enough to run at Cheltenham in the Centenary Novices' Handicap, where he was never really going after a mistake early on and was pulled up.

Keen on his reappearance here at the beginning of last month, where he was racing from 9lb out of the weights, improvement from that is entirely plausible and he could be a horse to follow.

With two Kelso victories to his name he clearly knows his way around the venue.
