Roscommon four-timer makes it day to remember for Smullen
Champion jockey Pat Smullen rode a remarkable 1,055/1 four-timer at Roscommon to move to within three of Colin Keane in the race for this year's title.
He completed the first leg on 5/1 shot Sollertia, who built on her encouraging debut run at the Curragh when seeing off Highway to Heaven in the Foran Equine Auction Race.
Smullen was made to work a good bit harder as Knowing You (3/1) left it very late before getting the better of favourite Invincible Ryker in the Murray Ambulance Maiden.
Ontheiflist (3/1) looked one of the first beaten in the Peggy Guerin Memorial Handicap but he answered Smullen's every call to get the better of market leaders Apparition and Hyperdrive.
Things were much easier for Lord Erskine (10/1) who bolted up by eight lengths in the concluding Sean Clearly Memorial Handicap.
Ruby Walsh delivered Small World with a perfectly-timed challenge to win the Logan Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Downpatrick.
Walsh was completing a double aboard Peter Fahey's 7/4 favourite, reeling in the front-running Tranquil Magic approaching the last before kicking clear on the run-in.
The Walsh-ridden Didero Vallis (8/13) made a successful Irish debut in the opening Profile Systems Maiden Hurdle.
