Eoin Griffin will be praying for rain over the next week or so ahead of Azorian's next run at Navan.

The County Kilkenny trainer wants to run the promising five-year-old in the Grade One Navan Novice Hurdle over two and a half miles on December 15, but only if conditions are more suitable.

Griffin wants to see more cut in the ground than there was when Azorian was second over the course and distance behind Apache Strongold in the Grade Two "Monksfield" Novice Hurdle recently.

"He's fine, he's come out of the run well. We're happy with him so we'll push on now," he said.

"He'll probably return to Navan on the 15th for the Grade One race up there.

"That's his intended target, although we'd like to see a bit of rain between now and then.

"The ground was probably as fast he'd want it the last day. He'd not want it any drier and we haven't had any rain in the intervening period yet so we'd be hoping for some rain.

"We'll be keeping our eye on the forecast and make a final decision nearer the time. If it doesn't arrive next week we'll be doing a rain dance."
