Racing at Fairyhouse cancelled because of waterlogging
WEDNESDAY evening's Flat meeting at Fairyhouse has been cancelled due to a waterlogged track.
Course officials made the call following a 3.30pm inspection on Tuesday.
The seven-card fixture was due to feature the Group Three Brownstown Stakes over seven furlongs.
Fairyhouse general manager Peter Roe said: "We're gone I'm afraid, it's absolutely saturated.
"We thought we might have a chance, but it just hasn't improved.
"We've had 173 millimetres of rain since June 1 - which is more than the whole of January, February and March put together."
The meeting has been rescheduled for next Tuesday.
