Pozyc shines at Listowel

It was business as usual at Listowel as champion trainer Willie Mullins teamed up with Ruby Walsh to claim the featured Edmond Whelan Memorial Handicap Hurdle with Pozyc.

Sent off the even-money favourite, the five-year-old moved into the lead after the second-last and held the renewed challenge of Faltering Fullback by half a length.

Lucky William (8/11 fav) took the beginners chase for the father and son team of Tom and Bryan Cooper by nine lengths.

Owega Star (7/1) made his first start over hurdles a winning one in the opening maiden hurdle in the hands of Andrew Leigh. Peter Fahey's four-year-old had 11/4 joint-favourite Run With The Wind to contend with from the second-last, but soon got on top to score by three and three quarter lengths.

Ardglen (2/1 fav) led all the way under Brian Hayes to win the Charlie Chute Memorial Handicap Chase by 16 lengths for in-form John 'Shark' Hanlon.
