Murtagh has the Power for Lynam
EDWARD Lynam reports his star sprinters Sole Power and Slade Power to be on course for their respective engagements this autumn.
Sole Power is to have a second crack at the Qatar Prix de l'Abbaye at Longchamp after being beaten just a head in third place behind Tangerine Trees in the five-furlong feature last year.
The five-year-old showed his well-being when slightly dropped in class in the Listed Scarbrough Stakes at Doncaster, where he notched his first win since the Group Two Temple Stakes in May 2011.
Johnny Murtagh, who was in the saddle last time, is to continue his association with the Kyllachy gelding.
"Sole Power is on course for Longchamp. He's in good form and everything has gone well so far, touch wood. Johnny Murtagh rides," said the Meath trainer.
The Qipco British Champions Sprint over six furlongs at Ascot on October 20 is the target for Slade Power after he was forced to miss the Betfred Sprint Cup because of an abscess on his shoulder.
"Slade Power runs in Ascot in about three weeks' time in the Champions Sprint," he said.
"He's fine. The setback was more of a nuisance than anything serious when he had to miss Haydock."
