Jukebox Jury calls the tune

Jukebox Jury booked a possible tilt at the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes with a comeback success at Newmarket. If anyone can produce a horse fit and ready after a 343-day absence it is Mark Johnston, and that was the case as Jukebox Jury held on grimly from the front in the Try timeform.betfair.com On Your Smartphone-sponsored event.

A Group One winner in 2009, Johnston's grey was sent off at 11/2 with Neil Callan soon dictating his own pace.

Afsare engaged top gear on meeting the rising ground and one-time Arc third Cavalryman flattered on the far side, but Jukebox Jury dug deep to prevail by three-quarters of a length. The judge was unable to split the dead-heating Afsare and Cavalryman.

"It was a big step down in class and you can't give a good horse like this a couple of lengths lead early on," said Johnston.
