Nicky Henderson has raised the prospect of Sprinter Sacre running in the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury next month.
Having beaten previous ante-post Arkle favourite Peddlers Cross without coming off the bridle at Kempton, he is one of the leading lights for Cheltenham.
Options at Warwick and Doncaster against fellow novices had been mooted, but Henderson believes he will learn more taking on older horses in the Grade Two event.
"It has crossed our minds that we could switch Sprinter Sacre from Warwick to the Game Spirit. Experience is what he needs," the trainer said. "It was Barry's (Geraghty) idea, probably to make sure he could ride him! But when I thought about it, it was a better idea than I'd originally thought."
Meanwhile, Emma Lavelle is hoping her patience is rewarded when her injury-blighted Chariot Charger contests the handicap chase at Taunton today.
"We've just been making sure he was fresh and well before we ran him again," said the trainer. "He finished pretty tired at Uttoxeter (in November) and I was in no rush to run him so we've waited -- he's in good form now."
