Head waiter serves treat

Head Waiter benefitted from the crashing last-fence fall of Hairy Molly to claim the feature Owens McCarthy Claims Specialists Handicap Chase at Killarney.

Well-backed throughout the day, the Eugene O'Sullivan-trained seven-year-old was at the head of affairs throughout with Decoy Daddy.

The seven-year-old finally got the measure of his 11/2 joint-favourite but, coming to the last, 2006 Cheltenham Champion Bumper winner Hairy Molly had joined issue and looked to have taken the upper hand. But he met it all wrong, leaving Head Waiter to come home eight lengths clear of Decoy Daddy.

Alpine Glade and Whisper Cool made it a red-letter evening for trainer Willie McCreery and rider Barry Cash.

Whisper Cool made a winning debut over obstacles in the Kelly Foley & Co in association with Lloyd Fitzpatrick Accountants 3-Y-O Hurdle.

The 7/2 chance hinted at ability on the level for Ger Lyons and got off the mark for McCreery at the first time of asking, coming home a length and three-quarters ahead of Toyshop.

Alpine Glade (12/1) came from last to first to take the Handicap Hurdle in great style.

Queiros Bleu got up in the dying strides of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Hurdle to deny Casey Top.
