Griffin has Aintree on his mind
Eoin Griffin is considering the Becher Chase for The Last Derby after his improved run in the Cork National last week.
Griffin wants to give the six-year-old experience over the Grand National obstacles at Aintree on November 21 after The Last Derby put two disappointing efforts behind him when a creditable third over three and a half miles at the Mallow course.
"He ran a good race in the conditions. He didn't like the ground so he ran a good race, it was very pleasing," said Griffin.
"I'm going to give him an entry for the Becher Chase. If it came up very soft, he wouldn't go there, but if I thought it was okay to give him a run we'd go there to give him experience of the National fences and put him away after that.
"Even though he had only run three times this year up to that and had won his hurdle race he was a bit disappointing in the Galway Plate and the Munster National."
