Gowran postponed

THE forecast for a further sharp frost overnight followed by freezing fog, prompted yesterday's late-afternoon cancellation by the Turf Club of the meeting scheduled for Gowran Park today.

The card, including the Red Mills Thyestes Chase, will now be run on Saturday, with the meeting at Navan put back until next Tuesday.

A maximum field of 18 plus three reserves, headed by the Willie Mullins-trained favourite Pomme Tiepy, were left in the €90,000 contest, which Connolly's of Goresbridge are sponsoring for the first time, but fresh declarations are required tomorrow morning.
