Game Changer for Elliott
The Game Changer relished a return to fences as he gave Gordon Elliott a second success in a row in the Hollymount Nursing Home Chase at Ballinrobe yesterday.
The Co Meath handler triumphed the race last year with Realt Mor and his charge was sent off 5/2 as he looked to reverse form with Ted Veale.
The latter set the pace under Ruby Walsh but had no answer when Davy Russell laid down his challenge on the enigmatic winner turning for home and eased two-and-a-quarter lengths clear to land the evening’s feature race.
Russell said: “It was a lovely opportunity and he took it well. He had a good run the last day and he was building on that and has been a very good servant down through the years.
“I enjoy riding him and while he used to be a little bit braver at his fences, has now gone a bit clever.
“The ground is gorgeous and they’ve done a great job with it.”
The Austin Leahy-trained Getoutwhenyoucan bounced back to form when springing a 20/1 surprise in the P & D Lydon Handicap Hurdle.
