Race week is packed with events from tipster breakfasts to charity lunches and style competitions with lucrative prizes

Monday July 27

What: Prom to the Paddock Style & Dine Luncheon in aid of Enable Ireland.

Where: Salthill Hotel, Salthill Promenade, Galway, Ph: 091 522711.

Time: Starts at 12 noon.

The glamorous afternoon begins with a prosecco reception followed by a four-course lunch. Enjoy a fashion showcase with style from Brown Thomas and Caithriona King Millinery. Prizes on the day for Best Dressed Lady and Most Stylish Gentleman. TV racing pundits Tracy Piggott and Tom Lee will share their top tips from the track while style guru Marietta Doran and TV3 showbiz correspondent Noel Cunningham will MC the event before a private coach takes guests to Ballybrit for an evening of racing.

Cost: €65 per person (including four-course lunch, private coach transfer and race entry).



Tuesday July 28

What: First Furlong at The Ardilaun, a lunch in aid of Breast Cancer Research (formerly known as NBCRI).

Where: The Ardilaun Hotel, Taylors Hill, Galway, Ph: 091 519794,

Time: Starts at 12 noon. Lunch features sparkling wine reception with Guinness jazz band on arrival, four-course meal with wine, racing tipster, a millinery showcase featuring Galway's most popular milliners and Duo Vocis Tenors Frank Naughton and Sean Costello.

Cost: €75 including coach transfer to Ballybrit and entry to the Galway Races.

Prizes: There is a competition for the Raciest Lady and Bookies' Favourite Gent, sponsored by Anthony Ryan's and by Diamonds by Julia.



Thursday July 30

What: Ladies Day 'Best Dressed Lady' sponsored by the Kilkenny Group.

Where: Ballybrit racecourse.

Time: Interested candidates should arrive by 12 noon.

Judges: RTE presenter Maura Derrane, Irish Independent Fashion Editor, Bairbre Power, Image Publications Editor-in-Chief, Melanie Morris and Mandy Maher of Catwalk Model Agency.

Prizes: Best Hat, Best Irish Design and overall Best Dressed Lady.The €10,000 prize for Best Dressed Lady (which was won in 2014 by Cork teacher, Helen Murphy) includes a shopping spree at Kilkenny, a new wardrobe by Irish designer Aideen Bodkin (pictured left with model wearing her new range, Dress by Aideen), a luxury five-star break courtesy of Bluebook Ireland, Irish jewellery by Maureen Lynch, bespoke Waterford Crystal trophy, €1,000 haircare voucher from Peter Mark and a cosmetics hamper from Lancôme.Winners will be announced at 3.30pm.

Friday July 31

What: Friday's Fair Lady presented by Athlone Towncentre.

Time: Judging starts at the race course at 4pm. Winner announced after the third race.

Judges: Marietta Doran and Roz Purcell.

Prizes: €1,500 prize fund with €500 shopping voucher for Athlone Towncentre Shopping Centre, two-night luxury hotel and spa break at the Sheraton Athlone Hotel plus jewellery to the value of €500 courtesy of Fields Jewellers at Athlone Towncentre.

The competition is now in its third year and the ATSC will have Irish rugby's rising star and Athlone native, Robbie Henshaw, to present the lucky lady with her prize.



Thursday July 30

What: Most Stylish Lady competition after the races.

Where: Galway city's four-star Hotel Meyrick, Eyre Square, Galway,

Time: From 7pm in the Gaslight Bar and Brasserie.

Judges: Model and food blogger Roz Purcell (pictured above) with Mandy Maher, owner of Catwalk model agency and Catwalk model Mary Lee.

Prizes: €2k prize package from fine jewellery specialists, Fallers of Galway.




What: Stars of the Turf Tipster Brunch is back.

Where: g Hotel, Dublin Rd, Galway, Ph: 091 865200.

When: Wednesday July 29 and Thursday July 30 from 10.30am-12.30pm.

Each year the g Hotel & Spa host their popular tipster breakfasts with leading stars from the Irish horse racing industry. This year they have National Hunt jockey Davy Russell and trainer Gordon Elliott. Following interviews with both, horse racing journalist George McDonagh will provide top tips for the days racing ahead. Guests will also enjoy a breakfast cocktail on arrival, a full Irish breakfast buffet with tea/coffee and return coach direct to the Galway Races. What: Best Hat competition plus this year's new addition, the Most Stylish Man competition.

Time: Judging starts from 10pm with the winner announced at 11pm.

Judges: For the Ladies Best Hat, the judges are Melanie Morris, Editor in Chief, Image Publications and Triona McCarthy, Beauty Editor, LIFE magazine with the Sunday Independent. For the Most Stylish Man, the judges are Galway GAA star Ollie Canning, Connacht rugby player Michael Swift and Louis Copeland.

Prize: For the Best Hat, you can win a Philip Treacy creation valued at €4,000. The Most Stylish Man will win a Louis Copeland suit plus two tickets to an Irish international rugby match.
