Frankel's prospects too tight to call

Something has to give when three unbeaten juveniles cross swords in the Dewhurst Stakes (2.25).

And while Newmarket work-watchers were blown away by Frankel's gallop on Wednesday, he is up against Dream Ahead, a nine-length winner in Group One company.

Throw Godolphin's Saamidd into the mix and anyone prepared to wade into Frankel at odds-on has more balls than brains. While there's no doubting Frankel's potential, he remains a work in progress for Henry Cecil.

He also runs in a cross-noseband, a piece of tack that telegraphs Frankel's tendency to take a strong hold.

And with none of his five opponents guaranteed to set a decent gallop, no bet can be recommended. Savour it, nonetheless.
