Doyle can continue hot streak with Commander

Tom Doyle finished the last jumps campaign with a flourish courtesy of Follow The Plan's Guinness Gold Cup triumph at Punchestown and he can get the new season off to an equally bright start at Roscommon this evening.

The Connacht venue's first meeting of the year is a mixed card that gets under way at 5.15. A bumper and a pair of chases will bring the programme to a close, with Doyle's two bookings of interest.

In the €11,385 Frank Hannon Memorial Handicap Chase, the Kilkenny native partners his recent Limerick winner Noble Commander.

Impressive when collecting by six lengths that day on the first bit of decent ground he raced on all year, Noble Commander ought to be hard to beat off just a 7lb-higher mark now.

Lismakeery also has a good chance for Doyle in the beginners' chase, but slight preference here is for the Ronan O'Gara-owned Your Busy. Ruby Walsh's mount hasn't run since recording three placed efforts in the autumn, but he was successful in a hurdle after a break this time last year, and looks the pick of these if straight enough.

The Danny Miley-trained Hi Big Man, whose debut second to Reizovic was franked by the winner and third scoring next time, is the nap choice in the bumper.

On the Flat, Joseph O'Brien may not be able to claim his allowance off Long Live The King in the 10-furlong maiden but they may oblige anyway, while Reasons Unknown is fancied now that he steps up to 12 furlongs in the C & F Green Energy Handicap.
