Do The Double

Wayne Bailey

I lost a fortune backing My Tent Or Yours in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham but I remain a big fan and Nicky Henderson's six-year-old will be hard to beat in this afternoon's Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle (2.05).

However, he's simply too short at 8/11 and preference is for the Jeremy Scott-trained Melodic Rendezvous (5/2), which is unbeaten in his latest four starts. He ran a career best in the Elite Hurdle at Wincanton recently and his race fitness may just give him an edge.

With wins over Norwich, Tottenham and Chelsea this month, Newcastle have now climbed to eighth place in the league and confidence will be high as they welcome West Brom to St James' Park. With a number of injuries plaguing the West Brom defence, the Magpies are a confident bet at 21/20 to keep up their good run of form.

* Last week's double was successful at just over 8/1.
