Diamond can sparkle again
Royal Diamond looks to be coming right again and can repeat his victory of last year in the GAIN Irish St Leger at the Curragh this afternoon.
He failed to really sparkle in the early part of the year but after winning the trial event for this race, he surely holds strong claims again.
Toormore can graduate to Group One class in the Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes after his last-gasp Goodwood win.
At Bath, meanwhile, Boom And Bust can enjoy his moment in the sun as he dips in class for the Bathwick Tyres Somersetshire Conditions Stakes. The six-year-old has been doing well in Listed and Pattern company this season.
His front-running style does leave him open to challengers late on but, as he showed when third in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood, he does not give up lightly.
While well-beaten by Afsare at Salisbury in August, that form has been well advertised since and Boom And Bust did trainer Marcus Tregoning proud when narrowly touched off at Newbury last time. He could not get his favoured uncontested lead that day and perhaps put in too much effort in the early stages and paid for it later on.
The conditions of this race certainly favour Boom And Bust and with a handy few pounds in hand of some of his main rivals, he must take full advantage of this opportunity.
