Dermot Weld targets spring comeback for Casual Conquest
DERMOT Weld's Casual Conquest could return to racecourse action next year after being sidelined with injury.
The seven-year-old was placed in the English and Irish Derbies in 2008 and won the Group One Tattersalls Gold Cup in May 2009.
He has not raced since being unplaced behind Sea The Stars in the Irish Champion Stakes that September and has subsequently been gelded.
"He has had a lot of tendon problems, especially when he was beaten by Sea The Stars," the Curragh trainer told At The Races.
"He was just beaten for the Irish Derby and he was just beaten at Epsom by New Approach.
"He is now a gelding, but we just didn't get him back this year. It was very bad weather and made it difficult for our training programme, but don't be surprised if we have him right next spring."
