Definate Opinion decisive

Producing a masterful display, Finola Richardson's Definate Opinion was a most authoritative winner of the Gain Feeds Irish Cesarewitch at Mullingar on Saturday.

Trained by Pat Guilfoyle, Definate Opinion completed an unbeaten path through the 600-yard combination, never troubled as he raced home a four and three-quarter length winner from Full Of Beans in 33.22.

Thurlesbeg Joker consolidated his position as favourite for the Easter Cup with another powerful performance in the second round at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night.

Producing a typical surge of power, Thurlesbeg Joker shot to the front on the third bend and won by three lengths from Oran Legend in 29.70.

Rathangan trainer Dolores Ruth had a fine double with Makeshift leading all the way for a three parts of a length margin over Shaneboy Lee in 30.00. Toomaline Jack then also flew from traps in Heat 2 and had two lengths in hand of Tyrur Brennan in 29.77.

The other heat saw Tyrur Dylan lead most of the way for a length verdict over Droopys Noel in 29.98.

Jackpot followers have a major carrot at Harold's Cross tonight in the form of a €60,000 guaranteed Pick 7 pool.
