Davy Russell opts for Sweeney Tunes in Monday’s Grand National

DAVY RUSSELL has opted to ride Sweeney Tunes from f his choice of five Gigginstown House Stud-owned representatives in Monday's Ladbrokes Irish Grand National.

The Paul Nolan-trained Sweeney Tunes landed a Grade Two novice chase at Naas last time out but will be stepping up markedly in trip.

Gigginstown's other representatives are Nolan's Panther Claw, who won a valuable event at Navan recently which earned him a 7lb penalty, the Dessie Hughes-trained Magnanimity, Gordon Elliott's Romanesco and Charlie Swan's Start Me Up.

David Pipe's Junior carries top weight in the maximum 30-runner field in which the only other British runner is Simon Shirley-Beavan's Rapidolyte De Ladalka.

JP McManus has two representatives in Competitive Edge and Carlingford Lough while Liz Doyle's Rich Revival arrives in cracking form having won his last three.

Ruby Walsh rides Marasonnien for Willie Mullins who also runs Away We Go while Jadanli, Home Farm and Goonyella are others in the Easter highlight.
