'Classic' can hit target for owen

The Spring Cup (3.0) at Lingfield is a classic early season match-up between last season's hard-running juveniles and the more progressive types which usually hold sway. Duplicity, Stargaze and Jira represent the former category, while Greyfriarschorista has quickly made up for lost time by rattling off a hat-trick against inferior opposition.

Although Mark Johnston's runner could be anything, his free-wheeling style renders him vulnerable to a late closer at a venue where front-runners don't have the best of records.

Tom Dascombe is in his first season at footballer Michael Owen's Cheshire stable. He will be anxious to make an impact, and Classic Colori is expected to strip fit for this valuable prize. The colt won on his racecourse debut and can go in again.
