Ruby Walsh has a lot of "long, hard thinking" to do before making a decision between riding Min or Douvan in the Champion Chase at next week's Cheltenham Festival.

The champion jockey is racking his brains about which of the Rich Ricci-owned pair he will be aboard in Wednesday's showpiece but admits his current quandary is not of the same magnitude as choosing between Kauto Star and Denman as he did in the 2008 Gold Cup - Denman prevailed with Sam Thomas up.

"When you were picking between Kauto and Denman, whichever one you didn't ride was going to win. I could pick the right one of Willie's and still not win the race behind Altior (Nicky Henderson's 4/6 favourite) so the consequences aren't the same," Paddy Power ambassador Walsh said.

"There's huge pros or cons for both. Obviously Douvan hasn't run in 12 months so do you ride Min who's had three runs this year? Do you go with Douvan on the back of a lay-off or Min who is match-ready?

"I don't know where I'm going to find the answer but hopefully I will find it. One day I'm thinking, 'Yeah, I'll ride Douvan' and the next you're thinking, 'How could I ride him, I'm going to ride Min'."
