Dessie Hughes is keen to run Deal Done in the Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup.
The eight-year-old gelding led his rivals a merry dance in the corresponding race last year before Junior swept past him rounding the turn for home and he lost second close home.
He has only been seen once since, when he finished ninth in the Irish Grand National, after which he suffered an injury.
"He's on track for Cheltenham," said Hughes.
"He had a bit of a problem after he ran in the Irish National last year but he probably wouldn't have run anyway as he's no good in heavy ground.
"He's pretty straight and there's a good chance he'll run in the Kim Muir again.
"The good ground is key to him - he had them all on the stretch last year and he'll enjoy the ground.
"He's off 131. Once the handicapper has seen them run in England he's not hard on them, it's the ones he hasn't seen he's a bit afraid of."
