CITIZEN CHASING CHELTENHAM BONANZA
Jessica Harrington could give Citizenship a racecourse gallop at the Curragh next week.
Winner of the Boylesports.com Hurdle, were he to go on and win at the Cheltenham Festival he would qualify for the huge bonus put up by the bookmaker.
"He's very easy to train, he's only had one real bit of work since Leopardstown, the less you do with him the better," said Harrington at a media day held at her Commonstown Stables in Moone, Co.Kildare.
"He's out in a field every day and does his own thing. He may go to the Curragh one day next week, but he practically trains himself.
"He's entered in the Martin Pipe (Conditional Jockeys' Hurdle), but he'll go for the County."
Citizenship is on 9st 12lb in the County Hurdle, for which the Paul Nicholls-trained Brampour has top weight of 11st 12lb.
Willie Mullins' Sir Des Champs would win £50,000 for his connections after also winning a Boylesports-sponsored novice chase at the same Leopardstown meeting, although his trainer is no nearer knowing where he will end up at Cheltenham.
He has entries in the Arkle, the Jewson and the RSA Chase.
Mullins said: "He's going well and it's all systems go for Cheltenham. I've yet to decide which race he'll go for at Cheltenham, we'll make that decision nearer the time."
