Alan King believes there will be other days for Vendor after the Fred Winter favourite could only finish third.
Having lost his position coming down the hill, the grey flashed home, but not as quick as the winner, Une Artiste.
"Vendor is still a baby and still learning," said King.
"He has never been crowded like that in a pack, and you could see him looking a bit timid for a stride or two, though I was pleased that he finished off his race so well.
"Ideally, I would have liked to have given Vendor another run after Newbury so that he came here with that little bit more experience, but then the handicapper would have had his say.
"It's always a bit of a choker to have one that you fancy strongly and who starts favourite but gets beaten, but Vendor is a smashing long-term prospect and very much one for the future."
