Bolger's Dawn set for battle in Dewhurst

JIM Bolger's Dawn Approach heads the field for the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Godolphin-owned youngster is unbeaten in five starts, including in the Vincent O'Brien Stakes at the Curragh last month, and is currently ante-post favourite for next year's 2,000 Guineas.

Bolger, who has won four of the last six Dewhursts, could also be represented by Leitir Mor. Aidan O'Brien has a strong hand, with Cristoforo Colombo, Lines Of Battle and The Ferryman among his eight entries.

Dundonnell is still in the mix for the Roger Charlton team, with the unbeaten Ashdan an engaging entry from John Gosden's stables.

Reckless Abandon is the star name among 12 confirmations for the Middle Park Stakes on the same card. Clive Cox's unbeaten colt is set to renew rivalry with Marco Botti's Moohaajim, which finished fifth behind him in the Morny.

On the same afternoon, there's a strong Irish entry for the Group Three Autumn Stakes over a mile.

Bolger's likely participant is Gowran maiden winner Trading Leather, and David Wachman's Galileo Rock could bid to follow his debut success at Leopardstown.

Meanwhile, Philip Hobbs has confirmed last season's smart novice hurdler Fingal Bay is likely to begin his career over fences at Chepstow on Saturday.
