FRAN BERRY looks set to miss the remainder of the turf season after it was confirmed that he suffered multiple fractures in a fall at Clonmel on Thursday.
Berry, who sits seventh in the Flat jockeys' championship with 41 winners, was aboard Eddie Lynam's Caliente in the 10-furlong maiden when the front-runner broke its leg in the closing stages. The rider was thrown to the ground and received a bad kicking from the following horses, which left him with fractures to his right scapula (shoulder blade), three ribs and left ankle.
The Turf Club's chief medical officer, Dr Adrian McGoldrick, reported yesterday of Berry. "He will be out for two to three months -- definitely."
