Harold Bishop from Neighbours confused with Man United target Louis van Gaal in gaffe
"Everybody needs good neighbours," according to the popular, long-running Australian soap opera – and it appears that even Manchester United need their Neighbours fix.
In a comical gaffe an Australian regional paper confused one of the show's most famous characters with Louis van Gaal, the Dutchman who is favourite to take over as manager at Old Trafford in the summer.
Harold Bishop, played by Ian Smith, may have once won the Most Popular Personality on Australian Television Logie Award, but his management skills only extend to looking after a coffee shop.
However, regional paper mX - which boasts "a loyal readership of 663,000" - contrived to mix up Bishop with the current Holland manager, who is favourite to take over at United following the sacking last moth of David Moyes.
In a man with a notorious ego, the mistake is unlikey to amuse Van Gaal, unlike many people who have used social media to highlight the error.
