Paul Hennessy claimed a fifth success in the BoyleSports Champion Stakes at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night, and now Jaytee Yankee has become a leading fancy for the BoyleSports Irish Derby, which starts on Thursday week.

Jaytee Yankee was the youngest finalist and went off at 7/1 but he flew from trap three and was never headed as he went on to credit owner John Turner with the €20,000 prize.

Favourite Whoops Jack challenged all the way but could never get on terms and Jaytee Yankee won by two lengths in 29.58, with Good News another length and a half third.

Meanwhile, Clares Rocket ensured his position as ante-post favourite for the Irish Derby as he scorched to a five-and-a-half-length victory over Swithins Brae in a brilliant 29.30 in a supporting open 550.
