'Vardy' can be on the mark again in Juvenile semi-final
Tralee holds centre stage in the greyhound world this evening with the semi-finals of the valuable GMHD.ie Juvenile Classic down for decision at the Kingdom Stadium.
For trainer Pat Buckley, it is a pretty special occasion as he has five young dogs in action in the two semi-finals and it will be a surprise if the Cappawhite handler doesn't end up with multiple representation in next week's final.
Buckley has three runners in the opening heat, while Graham Holland will have two. The other runner is provided by Sean Meade in what is a very open contest. Droopys Cabaye is capable of leading up the inside and he is nominated to lead home Nitro Notorious and Droopys Pogba.
The Buckley duo in the second heat are Droopys Giroud and Factotem Boy but the one to beat here is surely the Denis Fitzgerald trained Loskeran vardy which was fastest in the previous round and has the ability to lead all the way in this contest. Droopys Giroud and Paradise Marco may follow Vardy into the final.
The other meeting of note tonight is at Kilkenny where a number of finals are down for decision.
Most valuable of them is the Track Supporters Club A3/4 and the one to beat can be Sheila Devoy's AMBITIOUS HYLDA which has been impressive on her way to the final and can make the most of her outside draw.
Paul Hennessy can take the FFK A2 final with CHAWKE IT DOWN which is a daughter of former Greyhound of the Year Locnamon Bridie.
There will be no live racing in Dublin but Shelbourne will be open for the Inter Track racing from Tralee with all facilities. A protest is due to be staged.
Finally, news from Waterford is that Philidora misses the Yahoo Kennels 730 final tomorrow.
