Ballymac Arminta gave another master class at Shelbourne Park on Saturday when running away with the €7,000 Gain Christmas Oaks final.

Owned and trained by Liam Dowling, Ballymac Arminta went off the 5/4 favourite and never gave her supporters an anxious moment.

She broke fast from trap three and led her kennel companion Ballymac Trinkle and Mrs Chippy by a few lengths around the opening bend.

Arminta turned on the power down the far side and raced home an emphatic five-length winner in a sizzling 28.12.

Last year's champion Mrs Chippy took second and it was another three lengths back to Ballymac Trinkle in third.

Dowling reports that the bitches, along with the younger kennel stars, will now have a break of six to eight weeks.

There will be no Tuesday or Thursday night racing at Shelbourne during January as drainage work is carried out on the track.
