Exciting young prospect Spoofer was the star performer as the Comerford Cakes Puppy Stake first round was completed at Shelbourne on Saturday night.

Trained by Phil Gough, Spoofer flew to the bend in the third heat and ran out a convincing six-length winner from Murts Boher in 28.40.

Liam Dowling's Ballymac Beach displayed fine early pace when winning her heat in 28.54 while the other heat winner was Herecomesdahoney in 28.55.

The full first round of the Gain Christmas Oaks was also run and it went according to plan with the Robert Gleeson-trained Droopys Saga storming to victory in a best-of-night 28.31.

She didn't break too well but had a great run up with crowding on the inside.

Saga then led from the bend for a five-length victory.

The other big run in the Oaks heats came from Barney Mooney's Mrs Chippy as she led all the way in Heat 2 to win easily in 28.49.

Pat Guilfoyle's Skywalker Logan produced another big run in the Slyne Memorial 575 at Curraheen Park as he won in 30.82. Clonbrien Prince was next best with a 31.03 effort
