Shelbourne set for hectic schedule

It is going to be a hectic build-up to Christmas at Shelbourne Park with a series of top-class competitions prior to the festival.

Entries closed yesterday for the Gain Dog Nutrition Christmas Oaks and the Gold Collar competitions which commence this weekend and join the Comerford Cakes Open which has already commenced.

The feature of the Gain Oaks on Saturday is the Heat 5 clash of Tibet and Coolavanny Pet which met in the Oaks final and the Droopys Roddick Night of Stars.

The Gold Collar commences tomorrow and it has attracted a fine entry with the likes of Drive On Mike, Fast Fit Alex, Swithins Brae, Borna Gin, Kilgraney Ace and Whoops Jack in the draw.

The pre-Christmas Shelbourne schedule has also been confirmed with the normal four nights next week but then that will increase to five nights (Tuesday to Saturday inclusive) in the last two weeks up to December 23.

Racing will resume on Friday, December 29 and will be staged on the usual four nights per week in January.

One track, however, which will have a totally changed schedule is Enniscorthy where there will be no Monday or Thursday meetings until next year. They will race the next four Fridays starting tomorrow.
