The Sporting Press Irish Oaks has been over-subscribed and there will be 66 runners in the first round on Thursday.

This will necessitate a 13-race card which will also include the two semi-finals of the Red Mills/ FFK Kennels Unraced Stake.

The draw will be made this afternoon for the Oaks and also for the Dublin Coach Juvenile Derby which will commence on Friday.

Meanwhile, the sponsors make Good News their 13/8 favourite for the BoyleSports Irish Derby final on Saturday with last year's favourite Sonic a close second favourite at 15/8.

The full betting is 13/8 Good News, 15/8 Sonic, 5 Black Farren, Buckos Dream, 10 Jaytee Jet, 33 Hey Bound.

The traditional pre-Derby final lunch was staged at Shelbourne yesterday and the connections of all six finalists gave positive reports of the fitness of all six.

Travelling furthest was Nick Cheeseman, a member of the 13-strong Lionheart Syndicate which owns the youngest finalist Buckos Dream.
