The leading fancies came up trumps in the first round of the All Pet Supplies Irish Cesarewitch at Mullingar on Saturday when the Francie Murray-trained Date Due was the fastest heat winner.

Bidding to complete a fifth Cesarewitch title for Murray, Date Due hit the front at the opening bend and won at her ease by five and a half lengths over Silver Penny in 33.42.

Pat Buckley had two winners, with Droopys Dargle coming through late to win in 33.83, while Javielenko scored in 33.82. The other heat winners were Lisnastrane Gold in 34.45 and Kildare Farmshop in 33.64.

Buckley was also in top form at Shelbourne, where he had a treble with three runners which are likely to contest next weekend's Kirby Memorial at Limerick.

Droopys Floral was the first as she won in 28.78 and he then collected the night's two final contests with Shelone Iso in 28.85, while Pennylane Masara led all the way in 28.75.
