There was a widespread welcome last night for the news that mediation talks are set to commence this evening concerning the issues which have kept the Dublin tracks closed for a number of weeks.

The Irish Greyhound Board and the Dublin GOBA issued statements in which they confirmed their participation in talks under the auspices of Kieran Mulvey.

The DGOBA team of Des Cowan, Mick O'Keeffe, Ken Mann and Paschal Taggart yesterday met with Minister Andrew Doyle and his officials and afterwards announced that they would be attending the talks.

Virtually simultaneously the IGB issued their own statement which confirmed their participation in the talks.

Let's hope this initiative will bring an end to a dispute which has dealt a serious blow to the Irish greyhound industry.

Meanwhile, Graham Holland's Garryvoe Bobby will contest the final of the Arc at Swindon tonight.
